Ear makes a cracking sound???

Question

When I pull down and out on my ear lobe It makes a wierd cracking sound, it doesn't hurt at all. But I'm just wondering if anyone elses does this and why???

 I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one with this problem, too! I get it when I move my earlobe backwards about and also when I "tense" my ears like the above poster mentioned.  It kind of annoyed me at first because I thought it was a lot of wax so I tried picking it out (I know, I know, nothing bigger than an elbow in the ear, but I HAD to know if it was wax...it wasn't). So now I guess I have crackly cartilage. Whatevs!
