  1. When I am in the library I ask people to turn down their music if I can hear it. I figure that even with the headphones, if it's loud enough so I can hear it I'm probably doing them a favor and saving their hearing. Otherwise I don't care, just not in the library where people are trying to concentrate and study.

  2. It's annoying and also unhealthy. If you're using earphones and people around you can hear what you're listening to, your music is too loud and you're damaging your eardrums.

  3. both -and I can't stand cars that play their music so loud late at night when I'm already in bed - both annoying and incredibly rude!

  4. Well I have quite often ask my son to turn his music down because I could hear it through his headset.

  5. Very annoying! I've had kids playing their songs on their phones while on the bus. Been very tempted to grab the phone and throw it out the window :D

  6. both, especially if it's coming from the idiot next to you on an airplane

  7. For it to be considered rude, it must be intentional. That person may not realize how loud the music is coming through. I would call it inconsiderate and annoying, and I might ask them politely to turn down their ear phones. If asked nicely, most people will comply.

  8. Annoying and rude, but I do it so I dunno!

  9. Personally I don't find it rude. I see it as a part of the bustling sound you hear whenever you're out the house. You wouldn't find people talking on the bus/train rude would you? Or you wouldn't shush a noisy car as it drove past no?

It may be annoying, but they've got headphones in the first place to make sure they're the only ones who can hear their music. And to be able to actually hear it properly, the volume needs to be quite loud and you can't stop the sound from coming out and reaching other people ears. Even then, it's not that loud and it's muffled. If you don't like it, don't take public transport.

It's rude however if the people around them are trying to read/work in peace.

  10. Nah, i have a problem in these situations even if it is in a bus or train....usually in long-distance trips i try to sleep in the bus or train and if someone is playing music which i can hear then of course it is not something pleasant to me. I'd ask them to keep the volume down.

  11. Rude because they don't care about anyone else around them.  It's also annoying to others because of the rude behavior.

  12. To me it depends on the music, but I think it would be rude.

  13. Yes, it is rude.

  14. I think it is rude and annoying but I try to just ignore it because I'm sure the person listening to that loud music wants people to become annoyed and hopes to gain attention.

  15. Only if you're in a quiet place where people are working, I think they should turn it down of course.

But if it's in a train or bus (or outside) I personally don't care. I can deal with whatever song they're listening to for 15 minutes.

I wear over the ear type headphones so they can be as loud as a radio sometimes. I usually make sure it isn't too loud.

  16. It is rude and annoying.

  17. Annoying?  That's subjective and, for me, depends mostly on my mood, whether I want/need a quieter environment at the moment, and what kind of music it is.  Sometimes, if I like the music, I actually enjoy hearing it from someone else's headset.  I feel the same way about hearing music from someone else's car stereo.

Rude?  Yeah, I think it is rude, in that earphones/headphones are designed so that, if used properly, only the person wearing them can hear the sounds.  While a person can be intentionally rude, he/she can also be rude without intending to offend.  I think this falls under the category of rudeness due to bad manners.

A little consideration and coutesy on all sides would go a long way, I think, when the person is not being intentionally rude.  If the situation really bothers me, I may move farther away (and I may no longer hear the music enough, or at all, for it to be annoying), or I may politely point out the problem to the person wearing the earphones/headphones and ask that the volume be turned down.

  18. i vote rude and annoying- ii makes me angry when you ask them to turn it down and they stare at you and do nothing about it-

  19. If you are in a public place where people aren't able to get away (i.e. airplane, restaurant), it's rude.

  20. Yes.

  21. Yes it is a invasion of privacy, It does disturb others and that isn't fair

  22. Rude and annoying to me. No-one needs their music on so loud that the entire room/bus/train/wherever-you-are can hear it. Invest in quality earphones that dont give out music sound to anyone else other than you or turn it down. As for those who are rude enough to play their music without using headphones at all...we dont want to be subjected to your music..if we wanted to listen to music we would use our headphones to do just that.

  23. I think that it is both rude and annoying.

I find it very irritating on the train on my way to school when I have to listen to somebody's annoying music.

I think that it is quite rude to be so inconsiderate to the people around you.
