Ear piercing closing from sports...? Very scared?!?

I just got my ears pierced 4 weeks ago. Right now, (this week) I've been trying out for middle school softball (I'm in 7th Grade) and I during tryouts I asked the coaches that if I made the team, would I have to take my earrings out during the games. He said that I"ll probably have to in this case.

We don't start playing games until about 2 weeks (which'll be 6 weeks for me) but I heard that for some people it takes longer to heal than 6 weeks...

BTW, it's the first hole of my earlobes. And I've had no problems with taking care of it - no pain, no redness, etc. My mom says that the holes will NOT close up because hers didn't and my dad says the same thing.

Do you think that the holes will close up on me if there have been no problems?

  1. leave your ear rings in until before the games, then take them out for the game, then when you finish put them back in and it will be fine

  2. no, I'm 99% sure you'll be fine! Its strange you can't wear earrings, most coaches (like mine) are fine with studs. You may want to make sure. Regardless, if you take them out during the game than immediately alcohol them and put the earrings back in they won't have time to close. You can take your earrings out when you first get them done, even though they say u can't.

    good luckk!!

  3. Alright, not to scare you, but i had a similar situation in highschool with volleyball - I had to take out my earrings after around seven weeks and they closed up!

    But don't worry!

In college when i had them repierced, i simply threaded them with fishingline for the games, and put the earrings back in right afterwards.

It worked, just makesure its clean line and don't tie it too tight.

  4. nah! your fine. I can't belive there making you take em out for softball though.?.. thats stupid

  5. I wouldn't say it is very serious.  One earring of mine has ripped out, while being dragged off of a diving bored (OMG!), and surprisingly, there wasn't the slightest bit damage.  It doesn't hurt very bad, only for a few seconds, I think the scariest part is wondering if it's bad!

  6. All jewellery must be removed for games for safety reasons.  Some coaches will allow you to wear some piercings during practises but is forbidden to allow it during games.  He may allow you to keep them in with a bandaid over them.  It depends on how strictly they follow the rules

  7. i had to take out my third holes a few days after getting them peirced for meets, it wont close up just put it back in after the game, you will be fine, they just say 6 weeks to be safe
