  1. when i streched my ears i got into a hotttt bath.. and kinda  soaked my ear in the hot water.. this opened the pores and i used  Aloe vera ( the green stuff for sunburns ) as a lubricant.   this worked well for me..  i dont know about vasiline. but aloe works well too  just put it on your ear and  the taper or w/e your streaching with and  rememer keep your ear hot this helps it open and become more streachy.

  2. I'd avoid vaseline, as it's greasy and can get trapped inside the hole next to the jewellery; perfect breeding ground for bacteria!

If you have a hot bath or shower before you start stretching, i makes it much easier. I know a lot of people recommend water based lubricants (like you'd use in s*x), although these can absorb into the skin a little too quickly. Some piercing sites recommend liquid soap, such as the kind you can use to clean piercings, as it doesn't absorb into the skin, but it's easy to wash out. This is probably your best bet!

You don't say how big you're going or what you're using to stretch. I stretched my second lobe piercings from 20ga to 14ga in one go, and didn't need any lubricant or anything. There shouldn't be any bleeding or excessive pain, just a feeling of pressure and probably a little soreness. Also, make sure your piercing is fully healed before you start stretching; it's safer, and reduces the risk of infection.
