  1. Well, there are many factors. What is the cost of living in Chicago (high, low?) What type of program are you looking to work for.

The type of degree that you have will make a difference. A 2 year degree is better than nothing but a 4 year degree will help you get a little bit more money.  I make roughly $14.75 an hour with a 4 year degree and an endorsement.  Not much... But better than min. wage...

  2. a teacher of any sort with an degree is not going to make much at all, sorry but its the truth....i am not exactly sure how much you will make but it is more the kind of feild yu go into because you have a passion for it, not because you want money.

  3. It depends. I have my ECE and was making under 10 dollars an hour as a program supervisor. I worked for several different companies and that is a going rate in the state I was in. Childcare is a very important job, yet it doesn't pay well and in many cases there are not any benefits. On the other hand if you love children and our passionate about caring for them childcare is a very rewarding career.

  4. 14,000

  5. A BS/BA degree with an ECE empahsis will get you about $3,000 per month for 10 months per year.

  6. As a teacher I would say above 30k an aide less than 20

  7. It depends on where you go. Some for-profit centres have very low salaries, some have reasonable salaries. I suggest trying to work for a not-for-profit, licensed, government setting, they tend to pay more. I work for a College that has a childcare within it, so I get paid more than people I know who work at private centres. Whether you go for a two year or a four year degree, it is still the same position: ECE. So it also depends on the centre for how much they will pay you. Some will see your extra credentials and offer you more, others will go by job description, that is ECE so you will get paid the same as someone with a two year.

Shop around when you are looking for a job, and see what each centre is like. With the ECE field however, one cannot go into it for the money, it is a field that requires lots of passion and love for the job. Also, there are other things to consider when deciding to take a job other than salary alone, such as benefits, job satisfaction, respect in the workplace, etc. So like I said, look around, have lots of interviews and look at different employers to find the one that's right for you.

ALSO: 83% of a childcare centre's money is in the budget for salaries alone, and there are lots of other considerations for where money needs to go. They have a lot of expenses to run a childcare business, so don't look at salary alone to decide whether to take the job or not. Some may offer a lower salary but give you benefits, plus pay for any professioinal development workshops that you can attend to make up for a lower salary - everything balances out!

  8. in between $25,000-$35,000.
