Describe the difference between a two year old imitating a straight line and a four year old copying a square??

  1. Two year old:

    -Mimicking what they see infront of them without recognition of what the shape is or the skill needed to do it! Eg: If line was vertical and then you switched in horizontal would they recognise its the same...probably not as they were imitating not doing it themselves!

    Four Year Old:

    -Is looking at the dimension and figuring out the space and measurements (not literally). May be able to tell you if another square-bigger or smaller as draw was same shape as one they drew.
