Early Christmas bells for Manchester City as Carlos Tevez withdraws his transfer request
Recently there was speculation that Manchester City’s 26 year old Argentine captain, Carlos Tevez will be leaving the team due to personal reasons. Tevez transferred to Manchester City during the 2009-10 summer transfer window, and his extraordinary performance
with the team certainly turned a lot of heads. His success resulted in him being promoted to captain of the team at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. Tevez had signed a five-year contract with Manchester City, who are cross-town rivals of his former club
Manchester United.
At the start of the month, his manager asked the club to renegotiate and improve his contract, and soon after that there was news of Tevez handing in a written transfer request to the club. Soon after, the club also announced that they would not let him
leave in the January transfer window and that the club will seek compensation for breach of contract in case he retired or refused to play.

Talks between Mancini and Tevez paid off as rumours started rising about Tevez withdrawing his request. With the Christmas fever rising, Roberto Mancini received his Christmas present in the form of an understanding with the Argentine on not leaving the
club. This was then made official by the club's website stating, “Carlos’ contract remains unchanged and both Carlos and the Football Club are keen to focus on the opportunities that lie ahead."
Roberto Mancini said that Carlos Tevez committed his future to the club and that the 26 year old has withdrawn his transfer request while “expressing his absolute commitment to the club.”
No doubt these few weeks must have been stressful for Manchester City who would have had a bumpy ride here on in the league had Tevez not withdrawn his request. The City manager showed his gratitude by saying, “world class player whose contribution since
he joined the Club has been invaluable. I am pleased that we are now able to focus on pure football matters and to be able to look forward to Carlos continuing to play a significant role in the club’s progress."
This news certainly made fans and players happy, and the team would certainly be looking forward to performing well with their captain, as all eyes have turned to them and their upcoming matches should be a joy to watch.
