Early Mot Failure, What happens to current MOT?

im going to take my car in for its mot, 1 month early so that i can get a 13 month mot.

my concern is this, what happens if the car fails, can it still be driven untill the current mot, expires?

  1. Sorry but the above answer is wrong. Your current MOT will still be valid even if the car fails its new test. When an MOT is issued it runs until midnight on the date of expiry and nothing can rescind it. Since the MOT is still valid it can still be legally driven (although I wouldn't recommend it if its failed on a serious mechanical problem).


  2. No, the valid MOT is always the most recent one, pass or fail. :(
