Question:

Early miscarriages after abortion?

I have been pregnant four times. The first time I had an abortion and then lost the next two by miscarriage. I'm currently eight weeks pregnant, but I think I'm losing this one as well. I cannot seem to hold a pregnancy past eight weeks since my abortion. Has anyone else had this problem?

  1. Well, how along where you when you had your abortion, Did you ever get check ups or blood work to show what your progestrone level is? If you have low progestrone that may be the reason for your miscarriage. If your progestrone is fine, then your miscarriage can be due to chromosonal abnormality.

  2. My mom had this problem with me and my brother. She had to go through a lot of things to keep from miscarrying. I know my dad told me having a certain temperature was one of them. Also she almost never got out of bed. I suggest you get a doctor to help you come up with a plan to keep from miscarrying.

  3. I have had 2 abortions (please no rude comments) since I had my son 6 years ago and he was my first pregnancy.  I am now 35 weeks w/ #2, conceived only 5 weeks after the 2nd abortion. My terminations were very early on at only 5 weeks gestation.  I don't know if that makes a difference or not. An abortion that is done right normally shouldn't affect future fertility. Numerous abortions may cause problems later on but I cannot say for sure since I am not a doctor.

It may be a problem with your cervix/uterus that you cannot carry a child past a certain gestation.  I watch millions of baby shows on Disc Health and saw an episode of Birth Day not too long ago where a woman was finally giving birth after 9 miscarriages. For some reason her body would keep miscarrying even with a stitched cervix. You may want to see a high risk ob/gyn for some tests and to see if there is anyway to prevent a miscarriage from occurring again.

I am sorry for your losses, and hope you find a doctor that can help.  :)

  4. I, for the life of me, cannot understand why people take the time to answer these questions just to be rude and show their ignorance. I too am pro-choice and have had an abortion as have many of the people I know. I am sorry you are having trouble with miscarriages but it is unlikely to have anything to do with your abortion. check out http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_mi...

and don't worry about this being the problem, or about making a decision you have the RIGHT to make if it was right for you at the time you made it. People so quick to judge are usually the people too afraid to face their own issues and instead lash out at others. Most early miscarriages are a result of an embryo that cannot sustain life due to some sort of chromosomal problem. You may also have a hormonal problem that is preventing your uterine lining to provide for good implantation. You could have an autoimmune issue. You could have PCOS. You could have an incompetent cervix. Usually after 3 miscarriages they will diagnose you as habitual and look into all these tests. Work with your Dr. and hopefully you can find the cause and fix it. Best of luck to you!

  5. I've never had an abortion so I wouldnt know. I do not know what your reasons for the abortion was in the first place, but maybe God is punishing you now for aborting that first angel he sent you.
