  1. Well, I CAN predict that 16 teams will make the playoffs. I'm also willingly to wager that two make the finals, and (going out on a limb) one team wins Lord Stanley's Cup!

  2. i agree with the personj above me.. they wont b in the top 3 but i do think they will make the playoffs(blackhawks tht is) im a die hard wings fan and im sorry they are gunna be good this year and i really think the have about a 90% chance to repeat.. i mean com on look at it this way they kept all there player pretty much losing only hasek (who really didnt need in the playoffs) and maybe dallas drake but tht is still to b determined(though i think he shud and will retire) none the less we have many players just waiting to get there shot in the roster like erickson who is going to be the next big defencemen rookie for deroit and we have all our young talent like hudler filppula and helm who are starting to show their true potential. we also upgraded with hossa who makes us even more dangerous. who can argue with tht?? the wings are going to be one of the best if not the best team for many many many years to come

  4. Well. I am a hawks fan as well, a huge hawks fan to be exact and I am with you, I really like their chances. I know that they will make it to the post season this year, and from there continue to move forward. They are signing many great players including a goalie, which we could really use

  5. i'm a huge red wings fan so i say they are taking it again. you can argue all you want but if you look at it, they have the same exact team as last season plus they aquired Marian Hossa. I say the either the Washington Capitals or the Pittsburgh penguins go all the way but lose to the wings. you can argue bout the caps and pens too but all their best players are under 25, so they will only get better!!!!

  6. Pittsburgh Detroit again!

  7. EAST

    1. Pittsburgh

    2. Washington

    3. Montreal

    4. New York Rangers

    5. Tampa Bay

    13. Atlanta

    14. New York Islanders

    15. Florida

Although Pittsburgh is going to truly miss Malone and Hossa, with Crosby and Malkin they are still the team to beat in the East.  I put Washington at #2 because they had the best 2nd half record in the NHL and are in undoubtubly the weakest division in the NHL.

    WEST

    1. Detroit

    2. San Jose

    3. Calgary

    4. Dallas

    5. Anaheim

    6. Colorado

    7. Chicago

    8. Vancouver

    9. Minnesota

    10. L.A.

    11. Columbus

    12. Phoenix

    13. Nashville

    14. St. Louis

    15. Edmonton

Not too different from last year.  Detroit is the obvious #1.  I have Chicago making the playoffs, with all their young talent, how can't you.  With Huet in goal as well they should be able to make the post-season.  I also like Vancouver sneaking in.  This on the basis that Roberto Luongo is healthy, and that Vancouver lands another solid centreman (Demitra).

  8. I like the Rangers chances.  Yea they got rid or Jagr, straka, tyutin, backman, and possibly shannahan, but look who they got. Nikolai Zherdev, Dan Fritsche, Wade Redden, Markus Naslund, Aaron Vorros, and Patrick Rissimiller.  They also re-signed Michal Rozsival, paul mara, and Stephen Valiquette.  With Lundqvist between the pipes, the'll have a great year!  GO RANGERS!

  9. you like the blackhawks' chances for what? i don't see how they can make the playoffs in the same division as detroit, but they should definitely take second place.

  10. Austin, as a Wings fan I can tell you that our worst record in the season last year was by far against the Hawks.  I believe we were 1-4-1 against them.  Given their added strength at the blueline, continued development of young stars, and new backstop in net, I would say they definitely have a chance make the playoffs this season.  Regardless of how the season goes, they absolutely will not beat the Wings in the playoffs (nor will any other team).  However, they have a very bright future.  I predict they make it in as an 7th or 8th seed and have an early exit, but a lot to look forward to in '09-'10.  I think the same goes for Tampa Bay.  Montreal and NYR will be at the top of the East for the better part of the season.  The Red Wings will have one of their best seasons in Red Wing history, and one of the best in NHL history.  The Sharks and Stars will be a distant but competent 2nd and 3rd, respectively.  The Jackets, Blues, and Coyotes will continue to struggle.  Calgary, Anaheim, and Nashville will make the playoffs again but to no avail.  Edmonton may improve, but Minnesota, Vancouver, and Colorado will not see much success given their poor offseason deals.

Other than NYR and MTL, the rest of the East is a coin flip.  Pitt could do good again, or they may have setbacks trying to find chemistry with half of their core starters being traded or lost to free agency.  The Devils could do well with their added offensive firepower, but their defense will still be their limiting factor.  Washington may prove to be a playoff contender by the end of the season, but as for the rest of the East, I'm expecting a lackluster season/postseason.

Hawks fans:  Expect breakout seasons from Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews.

  11. Hawks are going to be great!  Depending on the chances the Rangers took with Naslund/Redden, they could have an amazing year as well!  My heart says those teams will meet in the finals, but my head says Detroit and Tampa Bay

  12. I think that the Hawks will have a great season but I don't believe they will be cup contenders, I am hoping L.A. will sneak into an 8th seed out west somehow, but that seems unlikely. Otherwise I can see the Finals being the same as this year I think the series will be longer, 7 games, but I think Detroit will still win. SJ, ANA, DAL, CAL, CHI, all will have good seasons in the west. Out east MTL, NYR, NJD, PHI, WAS, will have good years.

  13. i like the sharks chances..i'm a sharks fan of course (:

    go sharks!!!!!

  14. Detroit will stay strong and I'm thinking that they'll make it to the finals again and win...I don't think it will be against Pittsburgh again though, well I don't know it could be - no one really knows

  15. i'm saying blackhawks and lightning in the finals.

tampa has one year and a total shake up not only on the ice but in the front office to make a true run for the cup. They made a ton of surprising moves that should make them a top contender.

I also think the hawks could have it. With such a young team they could be a surprise like the young sabres were three years ago.

Very early prediction: Tampa vs. Chiagao for the 09 cup!

  16. well obviously the Wings will be tough. The Sharks upgraded there D, theyll be tough, and Chicago has improved greatley, so they should be there as well. Dallas will be better with the addition of Avery.

  17. Heres what i got:

    East:

East Conf Final - Pens vs. Devils

West Conf Final - Wings vs. SJ

Stanley Cup - SJ vs Pens

    Pens win in 7.

  18. I think with Brian Campbell the HAWKS will be awesome next year. With P Kane having another season under his belt, the HAWKS will win the Stanley Cup within a few seasons!!!!

  19. im just a wings fan..

and im pretty sure that they have the best chance of winning it all..

they kept all their players, and added hossa, and some other players..

easy to say the wings will win the presidents trophy.. and as long as they get through the ducks, and preds in the playoffs they should be fine..

    Wings and Penguins in finals
