Early signs of cleansing?: Jacksonville Jaguars cut LB Clint Session, TE Maurice Stovall – NFL News
With not much left in the season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the managers have started shaking up the squad giving an early indication of cleansing drive that is expected to be launched full-fledged at end of the regular season.
Although win of all the four remaining games is too difficult, if not impossible, for the Jags, it will not substantiate their playoff chance at the end. Hence changes made here and there are not going to have a major impact on the squad strength overall.
As of the latest the team has finally let go veteran linebacker Clint Session more than a year after he signed a five-year, $30 million deal with team. The main reason for his departure seems to be successive concussions he has suffered over the span of
last couple of years.
It was third straight time that the player suffered one after another concussion versus Cleveland Browns on November 20. Earlier, he hid the injury from doctors to just take chances and keep playing because of financial fears or otherwise.
He later somehow was detected of the injury when he suffered it third time in a row. The team immediately placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Later, the player admitted it was probably too late for him to avoid suffering trauma because
of so many head blows in the longer run.
This finally prompted his release by the Jags and it appears that his pro career might well be over. While the team confirmed the player’s departure, he himself or his agent has not spoken about the issue yet, seemingly accepting the decision of the fate.
Meanwhile, the Jags have also released tight end Maurice Stovall and signed fullback Will Ta’ofu’ou to their practice squad. No reason has been given by the team behind release of Stovall, which nevertheless was expected by end of the season.
The team is heading to finish the season at bottom of the National Football League (NFL) standings chart. So far they have only a pair of wins on the table and a majority of commentators have doubts on their ability to pull any from the remaining four games.
