Early thoughts! Who will win Wimbledon 08 on women's side?

I'm rooting for Jelena Jankovic! It'll be fun to watch though, because once again the top 4 girls are competing to be #1.

I think Sharapova will win it as long as her shoulder doesn't act up.  I would consider Venus a contender, but she hasn't reached a single semifinal this year so far, so she would be a long-shot.  Besides, the last two times she won Wimbledon, she was knocked out early the year after.  As for Serena, she hasn't gone beyond the quarters at Wimbledon since 2004 and has not been doing too well this year so far.

Ivanovic could be a potential winner seeing as how she manages to hit the right form at grand slams.  Another one who could emerge as a potential winner is Kuznetsova.

I definitely want Venus to win because of every woman on the WTA tour she is by far the best grass court player and shes won Wimbeldon four times including last year when she had a phenomenal run. Other people who could make a run I think are definitely Serena and Ivanovic, and possibly Sharapova, she plays good on grass but she's not really showing allot of consistency like the others, we'll see how her matches go.

It's really difficult to pick and decide since most of the top women's players have all withdrew from grass court tournaments and most of them will not be playing at all. The Williams could win the title this year. Venus Williams is the current best player on grass, as she said she already looked forward to win Wimbledon after losing in French Open's third round. Sharapova could make a good run here too, she could make the final or even win the title. She never win any matches when she was the number one, but she is not World No. 1 anymore. Other players like Jankovic and Ivanovic could make a good run here, but I doubt they'll win it. Yes, Ivanovic won the French Open, but this is a different surface and she stated that she has an injury as well. Wimbledon should be an exciting tournament, the top four girls will also be competing for the No. 1 again.

I say Venus, then Serena. Anytime Venus goes out early in the French she usuallly does well at Wimbledon. Also since her ranking is up she will play on the big courts where she performs much better. Serena as usual will play well  and belooking to prove herself after the upset at the French Open.

Jelena Jankovic!!! If not her, Ana Ivanovic is the only person I would like to win it. But I don't wanna see Bartoli or such bad players in the final. Let it be Jankovic vs. Ivanovic. :D

I want Maria Sharapova or Jelena Jankovic to win, and I think Maria probably will if her serve doesn't desert her at Wimbledon.  But I wouldn't overlook the Williams sisters either.

I would like to see Maria win another Wimby. She works harder than anyone both on and off of the court. Who do I think will win? Maria's got a great chance, but you can never discount the Williams'. If they had Maria's tenacity and work ethic, they'd never lose.
