Earning a P.h.D? ?

I heard that every student that earns a P.hD. needs to conduct their own research. What should be included in the research. My career goal is meteorology.

  1. Don't mean to be a meanie, but I googled "meteorology phd" and the first links were openings at 3 different Universities for study of Meterology at a doctorate level, with project description.  They have specific projects which they have funding allocated for.

    If you have your own research idea you can approach any University with it, propose it and see if they will fund you.

    Anyways, take a look at the links below, you'll see what kind of things a PhD in meteorology does.
