Question:

Earrings help? They seem to have stretched on their own?

I got my ears pierced about 12 years ago and I have had NO problems. However, I recently started wearing larger earrings that are a bit heavier than the normal weight of an earring.(a large hoop earring that's solid and about the size of a larger tea-light candle in shape). I love them. But I have "caught" them while brushing my hair, etc. and they seem to have stretched the hole vertically. My hole seems to look more like a small vertical line about the length of a pencil tip on my left ear where my right ear still appears round and more normal. Is there any way to fix my hole and make it normal again? Will it ever heal? Should I not wear my FAVORITE earrings anymore :(...........?? Please help me :)

Oh, and I'm not talking about those earrings that specifically make your ears lager--I don't like those. These are normal everyday earrings that you wear.

  1. What's happening to you is what happens to ear lobes when someone consistantly wears stuff that's too heavy: They stretch.  You've seen those old ladies with saggy, streched out ears.  It's NOT because they gauged them up- it's because costume jewelry is heavy.  Earlobes don't have anything to support them, so yeah, you're wrecking your ears.

The comments about taking the jewelry out for a couple of days MAY help, while your young, and your skin still has its elasticity, and if you mend your ways, and get a new pair of favorite earrings.  Otherwise, you're destined for flappy earlobes.  The older you get, the less your skin will be able to repair itself from this kind of dammage.  You're activily weighing them down with no support.  Gravity is amazing.

  2. unless you want slits when you're older, you should take them out and not wear earrings for a little while and let them heal. It's basically the same process when you gauge your ears, although if you severely tore and let it not heal, there could be a chance that your ears may not fully recuperate.

worst comes to worst, you could always be a punk and wear plugs.

  3. they will be fine- just take your earrings out for a few days, or wear them whenever you want but not all day

i actually have my ears stretched and i know yours arent and you dont like that but ive taken mine out and had them heal to a normal ear piercing from 8mm/0 gauge so a tiny hole will defo be fine.

i used to wear heavy earrings alot aswel :P
