I'm doing a project and need help...do tectonic plates make up the earths crust?

  2. If you think of the earth's crust to being like the shell of an egg, then the tectonic plates would be the broken egg shell around a hardboiled egg.

    Tectonic Plates are pieces of Earth's Crust that move. The entire crust (land and ocean floor) are broken into pieces - some very large and several very small. All these pieces move or float. Some plates are moving together (converging), some are moving apart (diverging) and some are sliding past one another ( transform or slip-strike). All the plates move because the magma underneath is constantly moving (convectional currents).
