  1. Earth Hour 2008 was not sucessful in my house. We have to many dependencies on light and technology. Sorry about that.

  2. I sure did!  My husband and I sat and talked by candle light for an hour!  We discussed what we were going to do to house this summer to make it even more energy efficient!  We are getting glass block windows in the basement and have insulation blown into all the exterior walls and attic.

  3. we didn't have an event in our area.... I only learned about it through YA a few days ago

but last night , I told the kids about it and asked if they would be ok with taking part

and the little one was scared about turning the lights off but she finally agreed

what a wonderful time we had

we turned off the lights , the TV and PC and all appliances that weren't needed

and we had 17 candles burning ... and played music on our battery operated DVD player

and we danced for the whole hour

honestly ... it was good for the environment ... but also good bonding for me and my kids

we have decided to make it a weekly event

  4. No. To be honest with you I was not even aware of it until after it was over. But I think you don't have to wait until next year to be earth friendly. There are many things people can be doing regardless of what day it is of the week. I know next year I will be taking part in it.

  5. I did, I powered down everything electronic I own, and turned off the lights in our house, hall and room.  Unfortunately my roomate forgot about earth hour and turned our rooms lights back on while I was out studying.

Speaking of studying, I did that in Library, which was well lit.. so in a way I didn't participate, though the lights in the library weren't going to be turned off anyways.

  6. partly powered down, turned off the lights, but still watched T.V. I will make a better effort next time!!!

  7. No.

  8. No I was planning to but I forgot!

  9. Yes I did. We decided we were going to visit some family last night. Left at about 5 pm so I shut off the breaker at 5. We returned a little past 9 and turned the breaker on.

House was a little cold, but nothing too bad.

  10. I didn't hear about it until now...

  11. I powered up as a part of Make the Night Bright, a celebration of modern technology intended to raise awareness of just what the Neo-Luddites want to take from us.
