Earth Hour??????

Question

Will you turn the lights off tonight in support of Earth Hour? What will you do in the dark for that hour?

My first reaction to this was that if the lights are turned out, wouldn't it give looters a golden opportunity? Maybe the scam is..."Turn out your lights so you won't see us steal you blind!"

I like the idea of conserving but won't participate in this.

It's a nice jesture but it's actually pointless to do. Most will do it to be trendy and some will do it because they truly beleive in it. They did the same thing in late 80's with Earth day. Most of the people and actors that took part in it only did it for a good PR and it was mostly forgotten in time. It's probably not what you want to hear but the truth is that most of these movements just fade away. Remember, people are fickle and do things because it's fashionable (especially these days).

Since if you switch off your light you should be playin your handheld stuff or doing r****d homework which spoils your eyes in the dark so when a robber comes in your house u dont know cause u r blind!

Earth Hour is hypocritical. People will turn off their lights for an hour, then go back to driving round but think it's ok cause they turned off a light.

you only technically have to turn off non essencial lights unless you are a real fan of the enviorment. this can be turnning your t.v off or computer. you dont have to turn off all the lights, but turn it off when you arent in the room and if you can control dimmness then make it some what dim.

as for doing things, i guess you can watch tv as long as you keep all of the other lights off.

Yup, at 8:00 tonight all electronics and lights will be shut off and/or unplugged. I still have no idea what I'll be doing in that hour, though!

Yes, and I will be playing a board game with my family by candle light.

I hate how so many people are saying that there isn't global warming.  Has anyone noticed how off the weather has been (including many natural disasters), the increased asthma, and increased everything else that's bad.  There could be the possibility that the Earth was going to heat up anyways, but aren't we better off being more green in case it is real?  If it isn't, nothing bad can really come out of it.  If it is real, this could be the end of the world. Literally.

I had to say that for all the people coming onto here calling it a scam and not real.

Im just gonna spray some areosal outside or make the air fresh. Then turn on my 60" TV and leave it running for the rest of the night so i can see how well Earth Hour is doing.

I'm gonna turn ON every light instead,leave the furnace on 90 with the windows open,leave the freezer/fridge door open,leave the t.v. on,leave my wifes van idiling in our drive and sit outside in my v10 ford excursion revving the engine for an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

. By da way I 'll get some rednecks toghether to play tug of war with pickups to see how much tire smoke/exhaust we can produce.

I will...I am not sure - was thinking of going walking downtown to see how many others will be participating.  It's a nice evening.  I work for a municipality - and we are turning our lights off at our city building in honor of that - so I thought our family would go check that out!
