  1. You've ruined it.

We had a chance to SAVE THE PLANET FOR OUR CHILDREN.

How will you ever be able to show your face again?

    Kristen, great job!!

You shut off a light and burnt some logs which will put 500 times more carbon dioxide in the air than an hour's worth of light ever  would.

  2. I think Earth Hour is going to happen once a year, maybe! I missed it too, i was so mad! How cool would that have been to turn your lights off with the rest of the world!

  3. Seriously, don't feel bad about it.

I actually forgot.  I went online and I saw on a little news thing that it happened 2 hours ago.  I was like "OH c**p!"

So you can join in and just do the hour whenever you can.  If you do the hour like tomorrow, you will stop the pollution and it will all equal up!

But anyway...will happen around the same time next year.  Just look online in like February!

  4. maybe u sleep late and wake up late. thats why u miss the earth hour..

  5. We know you did not observe Earth Hour. Your house was seen by a spy satellite and will be on the late news. Your house was the only light on in the whole world.

  6. Are you serious about this question?

Earth hour can happen any day and at any time.

The message is, "look at how easy it is to turn off the lights, tv's, computers and enjoy a simpler life, while doing good for the environment". AND save you money on utilities at the same time. (Conserve resources)

The message is one of awareness, for you to understand and think about your effort and responsibility to preserving the earth.

Do you always need all the lights on or could you live by candles or go out for a walk? Do you need your car to go to the store thats 2 blocks away?

It's a much bigger thing than just lights.

  7. Yes I did it for the first time ever. I wouldn't have known about but i went on google and it was all black (the link explained it thought) but anyways. They do it every year but you don't have to wait until the next Earth Hour. You can turn out your light for an hour or for as long as you want when ever you want and you'll be helping the enviroment!!!

  8. i think it happens every year....i turned off and unplugged everything in my house and i lit a whole bunch of candles

  9. I participated in Earth Hour here in the Annapolis, Md area. My husband, myself and our son sat in the back yard with a fire. We talked about our up coming camping trip and we had a great time.

On March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m., join millions of people around the world in making a statement about climate change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the World Wildlife Fund.

Earth Hour was created by WWF in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and in one year has grown from an event in one city to a global movement. In 2008, millions of people, businesses, governments and civic organizations in nearly 200 cities around the globe will turn out for Earth Hour. More than 100 cities across North America will participate, including the US flagships–Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco and Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Earth hour 2009 will be March 28, 2009

  10. I'm hoping this catches on and becomes a yearly event.  I remember the first Earth Day.  I was in 11th grade and I think I was the only person to do a project for the day.  Since then Earth Day has become a big event, teaching kids how important it is to take care of the world we live in.  We participated in the first Earth Hour with our children in hopes they will remember this first event and carry  on in the future.

It's so important for them to learn, and this made a huge statement.  We lit candles and played word games.  They loved it and learned how much we could do without.

  11. We did it..the baby slept and my husband and I made out.  Cool I know.

The next Earth Hour will be March 28th next year.  Why not make your own Earth Hour every week?  That will make a larger impact instead of once a year.

  12. I turned ON everything possible and feel great!

  13. Yes, I missed earth hour. But, it's no big deal if you didn't participate or not. You can do this anytime. I normally don't even waste that much energy, so I feel that it compensates for me missing it. I feel this earth hour thing isn't going to help if nobody ever learns to practice saving energy often.

  14. Nope, I left mine on like usual.

  15. I didn't turn off anything. I think earth hour is a waste of time.

  16. I had my lights out for eight hours last night so I made up for you missing it

  17. The only references i ever saw to earth hour were right here on YA. And I never DID hear what hour it was to be. I'm sure it'll be done again next year, hopefully with more fanfare..

Why do people promise to choose 'best answers' then weeks later let the voters choose?

  18. Most likely sometime next year. Yea, I turned my lights off it was fun I was at my friends house and we got scared of a doll in the dark.
