Question:

Earth Mat and Earth Plate?

I want a detail explanation of the above earthing materials. I also want to know the difference between them and where to apply. I want to provide earthing for lighting poles 10m and 15m tall respectively. I am not sure if I should use an electrode, earth plate or earth mat. If anyone have answers to these I will be so glad.

  1. Earth Mat is a grid of earthing wires or cables connected together to reduce the earth resistance to an acceptable level.

The Earth Plate is an earthing system localized and not distributed to discharge the excess currents.

To provide earthing to the poles you mentioned then Earth mat can be economically viable solution but all that depends on the soil resistivity in the area, the best earthing system is the earth wells , where you can achieve less than one Ohm
