  1. yes there was an earthquake yesterday night at about 1 am i could feel it here in Islington but apparently people in other London areas didn't quite feel it as much as i did...

  2. i was in bed last night and woke up coz i felt earthquake:{ i live in london but in my country we have small earthquakes as well so no surprize

  3. The earth definitely moved for us in Manchester at 00.58!

  4. ive heard it all now

    earthquakes due to global warming

  5. This was centred in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire and we also felt it up here in North Yorkshire. It's just the same old, same old, - plates and things shifting inside the earth. We,ve had many before but not quite as powerful as this one - thank god it only lasted a few minutes and without too many casualties or structural damage.

  6. my bedroom shook it  really scared me that was in cambridgeshire

  7. Yes there was an earthquake in London. Just felt my house slightly shake.

Maybe it is Global warming because a big ice cap has melted and slid to the ocean or a fat lady has fallen down from her chair.

  8. omg i actually didn't know there was an earthquake.. i just found out now lol. I love in London, didn't hear a thing, was sleeping all through it. was it strong in london?

  9. Is this the first time of an earthquake in London? we have a lot here in the Philippines

  10. we did have a small tremer in london last night. havent got a clue why though.

  11. It`s called a pefectly normal planet.

There are dozens of earthquakes all over the world each week.

Some small, some large. There`s nothing to worry about.

The UK has many earthquakes, it`s just that they are so small you never normally notice them; there`s bound to be some larger ones occasionally.

  12. Helen S is correct. We felt the 'quake quite strongly. Glad that no real damage was caused.

  14. The epicentre of the 'quake was up North, somewhere between Barnsley and Sheffield, I think. But yes, many people in London apparently felt the effects. Shades of the Princess and the pea, I fancy !

  15. The world is ending. Near to the end of the world it has been said that there will be more natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and hurricane. And its happening allready.

  16. The earthquake wasn't in London, its epicentre was near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

But it was felt as far away as Aberdeen, Cardiff, Plymouth, Kent, and even on continental Europe.

It was the biggest UK earthquake for nearly 25 years.

  17. well i felt the earth move in my room last night!

  18. The earth is made up of tectonic plates which occasionally shift/move. This movement is what causes earthquakes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/hottopics/n...

There are up to 3 earthquakes in the UK every week but most are so minor that we don't feel them. The reason we felt the one last night was because it was quite strong (for the UK) at 5.3 magnitude and earthquakes that happen at night are more noticeable because there is less human activity.

The UK has little to worry about because we are on fairly stable geology so the damage that we suffer from is quite minor.

  19. yeah, it had an earthquake... absolutely!

  20. we get earthquakes ALL the time, just most are too small to feel, and it wasn't in London it was in Linconshire.

  21. No need to worry - small quakes happen often in the UK, but we rarely notice it.

  22. its called global warming

  23. The earthquake center was in Torrington, lincolnshire, what you felt in london was the shock wave. I live only 20 miles away and it`s cracked all the rendering on the front of our house.
