where abouts do you live in the uk,and what were you doing at the time when the quake hit the uk.i live in scarborough north yorkshire,and we were in bed watching tv when we felt the earth tremor,i thought it was my partner messing about with the bed,so i asked him if he had been messing about with the bed,and he said that it wasnt him,so then i thought that we might have a ghost who was trying to move the bed,until we heard it on the radio this morning that an earthquake had hit the uk at around 1am this morning

  3. i live in the midlands in ashby. i didn't feel the quake cos i was dead to the world in bed but my grandad felt it. he said the whole wall and sofa he was lying on was shaking.

  5. Im in Leeds and I was feeding my newborn son and I thought it was ghosts at first! The whole house was really shaking,My husband slept right through it naturally!

  11. i live in manchester but im originally from linclonshire and all my family are still there. i didnt hear or feel a thing but i phoned my mum at 7am this morning to check everyone was ok and she said it was really bad near her. the whole house shook and they thought the house was falling down. my sister said the same thing. so scary.

  14. I'm in London and i felt it. I was in bed watching The Sopranos on DVD. The bed, my mirror, TV and lamp all started shaking for about 5-10 seconds. Living in London i thought it might be vibrations of a bomb or something (paranoid i know). I turned off the DVD about ten minutes later and switched on sky news and they were reporting tremors.

    How weird that we felt it here in London when the epicentre was so far away.

    The Richter Approximate Magnitude of 5 is equivalent to 32 kiloton of TNT or the same  as Nagasaki atomic bomb (actual seismic yield was negligible since it detonated in the atmosphere)

  17. I live in Cheshire and we felt the earthquake as I was up looking after my boyfriend who was ill with a migraine.  He'd never experienced an earth quake before.  This is the third one at least that I have felt in about 20 years.

  20. I don't live in the UK, but when my son bought a new mobile phone and left it on the coffee table, it started to vibrate and skitter across the table - it took me a few seconds to understand that it was not an earthquake.

    Once, when I was in a war zone, there was a dull thud, the house shook and my interpreter said, 'Don't worry, it's only an earthquake.' Brits aren't used to earthquakes! But anyway, it wasn't a bomb.

  21. I was sound asleep. Didnt feel a thing. Didnt know about it. Until I was in a taxi and he told me. Heavy sleeper I guess. Just hope I would wake up if it was a very serious one and I had to save the life of my beautiful son. XX
