Earthquake predictions?

Question

we had an earthquake here in orange county about a few months ago. it wasnt the center point but it affected us still. i heard that there was gonna be another earthquake higher than 8.0 before november here soon. is this true ? and how right are earthquake predictions ? if this isnt true, are there any other predicted earthquakes in california ?

i've not heard of an 8.0 prediction this year.

if there was such, it would be big news.

there are, as far as i know, no earthquake predictions in the short term.

there's said to be a 90% chance for a quake on the hayward fault up near san francisco in the next 30 years.

however, 30 years is not a useful window, unless it inspires you to leave the state.

there are, of course, quacks that predict quakes all the time.

rarely are they right.

much more rarely still are they right twice.

at some point, there will be a quake which will cause lots of damage.

at this point, the only response is to leave if it worries you.

now it should, but it seems that enough of us are staying around that ......

oh well, the weather's nice.

i haven't shoveled the rain since i moved here.
