Question:

Earwigs eating my Dahlias.?

I have five medium sized dahlias in my garden and they are being absolutely savaged by earwigs, I went out to the garden at night to see what was eating them and they were covered in earwigs (I counted over 40 of them on one plant alone). They're eating the actual flowers and any new buds coming out havent got a chance to survive with them. Can anyone recommend any product or specific way to get rid of them.

Thanks.

  1. I hear diatomaceous earth (chalk) will do it.I havn't tried it myself though. The idea is that the chalk is sharp on a microscopic level and gets in their plates and grinds them cutting into them as they move.
