What is The easiest size to maintain? Nothing HUGE! How often do you change the water and how much? How do you change the water if the tank is not near a sink?

Thanks in advance:)

  1. A 55 gallon is the easiest, from what I've heard.  The smaller tanks, like under 10 gallons, require more frequent water changes and you really can't get a huge variety of fish.  The conditions can go toxic fast and kill your fish.  It's just like a bigger bowl.  With a bigger tank atleast the changes won't happen too fast.  Also, you can get bigger fish with personality that will actually interact with you.  You can probably change about a third every couple weeks.  You can buy something called a Python that attaches to your sink and either pulls water into the sink to drain it or moves water from the sink to tank to fill it.  They are a bit pricey tho.  Lugging buckets of water is good exercise tho.  (;

  2. just a regular sized tank would be easiest. about 1 ft by 3 ft. and 1 ft. deep. you need to clean it out and change the water about every week or two. whenever the water becomes a little murky or the edges are getting a little green. to change the water if it's not by a sink, then get a large mug filled with water and make sure that you have a fish bowl for every 2 fish that you have. also make sure that the water isn't too cold or too warm. i'm sure that you know how to get a fish used to the new water because if you just sort of drop them in, they can die from shock because of the change of water. so you put some of the new water from the tank into the bowl, then pour some from the bowl in. then repeat until you can pour the fish out with the rest of the water.

    your welcome   =]

  3. Well i have 3 fish tanks a 10, 29, and 45 gallons.  Each of them are really easy to maintain.  I would get a 29 gallon tank because it is not small and you can have a lot more fish in them. If you change the filters every other week and keep putting water in the tank if it gets low you should have no problems with it.  We got a 29 gallon tank and it has never gotten green or nasty water. The only thing that may happen is it might get cloudy but they make chemicals for that.  When you are done decorating and filing the tank put some Start Right chemicals in the tank.  Get the filter going but wait like 2 days before you put fish in them so the water can filter through.  Then start with cheaper fish in case they die, because it happens to every one and it stinks when they cost 10 to 30 dollars a fish.

  4. I would use a 10-20 gal.

  5. 5-10 gallon is easiest. only problem with 5 gallon is that you usually have to clean it alittle more often. 10 gallon is nice too, its just hard to clean because its so heavy. i would consider getting a water vaccum where you stick it in the tank and it cleans the gravel, that way you dont have to clean all the time. a 20 gallon is alittle big though, and relativly hard to clean. i would completely suggest a 5 or 10 gallon(:

    you change 1/3 of the water every week, always make sure to never do a complete water change, it'lls shock the fish.

    and you can use all sorts of this for filling up and emptying a tank. i use a milk jug sometimes, but sometimes i just use a large bowl and scoop it out..(:

    hope this helps, any further questions feel free to contact me

  6. It all depends on how many fish you are going to have in the tank and the type of fish, live bearing fish will multiply,  egg laying don't too often.  A 10 to 20 gallon take are fairly easy to maintain.  You never remove all the water from the tank at one time, leave between 1/3 to 1/2of the water in the tank If you have filters you only need to change the water every few months.  Make shore you don't over feed.  Feed what they can consume in 2 minutes 2x a day.   To changes the water you can use a cup or a siphon line and a bucket.

  7. It depends on how many and what kind of fish you want to keep. Generally, it is easier to maintain a bigger tank than a small one. For beginner i would recommend a 15-20 gallon tank, stocked with small to medium sized fishes.

    Good luck.
