Easiest way to carry...?

What's the easiest and most comfortable way to carry a heavy messenger bag packed full of books?

over one shoulder. (like put your head through the arm as well) so it is across your body.  you may need to switch it every once in a while (depending on how long you are carrying it for) as your shoulder will get a bit sore, but this will distribute the presure most evenly across your body and save you the aches and pains the next day.

to throw away the messenger and get a back pack or tote

Strap it to a foldable dolly.

That way you will never have to lift it, and it follows you wherever you want to take it.

The dolly does not take up much space either.
