Easiest way to make some money at home, or around the block?

My mom is paying me $10 a week to keep the house clean. I need to make about $200 before the end of August & I already have about $55. What's a good "job" for a 13 year old to do around the neighbor hood and get paid. Any suggestions? And probably something that involves being inside because during the day the temperature is around 100- 105 degrees.

No stupid answers please, I'll just block you.

  1. If you are responsible and like children, try babysitting or kidsitting.  Most parents agree you should be 12 or older to babysit.  I have had friends who started babysitting at your age.

Remember that there will always be a demand for babysitting wherever there are babies and toddlers.  Many young parents want to go out on the town on Friday or Saturday nights, and need someone to babysit.  There is no shame in babysitting and, in fact, it is one of the best odd jobs for young teenage girls.  I would check your local Red Cross to see if you can get some advice on babysitting safety courses (many parents prefer a babysitter who has taken a safety course) in your area.  A good babysitter is mature, trustworthy, patient, safety-consciousness, organized, prepared, fun and punctual.

Try checking your local classified ads in the newspaper or online or ask your mom or friends if they know anyone that needs a babysitter.  There is no shame in babysitting!  My girlfriend babysits from time to time, and she's in her 20s!

Believe it or not, your local animal shelter may need people about your age to do odd jobs.  I know the one in my town does.  You usually start on a volunteer basis but, depending on the shelter, you might be able to get paid eventually.  Either way, you would most likely run into people getting pets and, if you initiate conversation with them, you could offer to pet sit for them.

In most states, I don't believe you are old enough to work at fast food or run a cash register, etc, so...

Other than babysitting, there is the typical lawn mowing, extra chores, lemonade stands (which *rarely* turn profits), and selling candy.... *snore* ...

  2. Ask your neighbors do they need some work did around their home, for a small amount of money, from a honest hard working teen.I'm sure they would .good luck!

  3. Ask your neighbors if they have some cleaning or miscellaneous jobs they need done.

  4. Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. More details are available at http://kj9.info

  5. dog walker / p**p scooper

gardener, pull weeds, water lawns, rake leaves, etc.

    swimming pool maintenance

    garage cleaning

  6. maybe helping your neighbors out, or getting a job at a restaurant or store?

  7. You can go to garage sales around your neighborhood and buy baby clothes or anything for a baby and then sell it on ebay. I'm saying baby stuff bcuz its thing that will sell most quickly and you get good money
