East Coast Hockey League’s Alaska Aces signs Scott Gomez, Nate Thompson and Joey Crabb
Alaska Aces, who play in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)made three top signings as they took services National Hockey League (NHL) players Scott Gomez, Nate Thompson and Joey Crabb.
All three of them took ice on Friday as they had a practice session with their new team and they would also be looking to adjust in the new conditions and with the new players as early as possible.
American professional player Scott Gomez, who is a mixture of Mexican and Colombian descent, is currently associated with Montreal Canadiens in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference.
32-year-old forward who plays as a centre, was picked in the first round of 1998 NHL Draft, selected 27th overall by New Jersey Devils.
The Anchorage, Alaska born player made his NHL debut one year later as he scored 50+ assists in the very first season and scored 70 points in 82 games, scoring 19 goals and 51 assists. He played for Devils until 2004-2005 lockout, when he had moved to Alaska
too.
2007-2008 season he moved to New York Rangers and after two years, to Montreal Canadiens, his current team.
Overall in NHL he has played 902 matches and scored 686 points, 169 of which are goals and 517 are assists.
Next player is Nate Thompson, an American player who plays for Tampa Bay Lightning as a centre and has previously played for Boston Bruins and New York Islanders.
The Anchorage, Alaska born forward has not been very successful in the league as he has just been able to score 23 goals, 31 assists and 54 total points in 265 games.
Third payer signed by Alaska Aces is also from Anchorage, Alaska, and that is Joey Crabb, an American right winger.
The NHL Draft’s last round selectee of 2002 Draft went on to make his NHL debut for Toronto Maple Leafs after 8 years of his selection. Though he was selected by New York Rangers but he could not get any game for them and only has played for Maple Leafs,
with whom he has played 144 NHL games, scoring 18 goals, 32 assists for a total of 50 points.
