East Midlands Trains - seat question?

Hey,

I'm going from luton to notts via long eaton (i change here to notts) .... my train to long eaton has given me a seat so has my ticket coming back notts to luton .

My question is how does the seating issue work ? I'm used to fighting for a seat into london not being given one how do i find my seat are they labeled ? whats the deal - help! please

  1. More than likely it will be a LED above the seat as they use the new Class 222 to Long Eaton, unfortunatley they are often out of use.


  2. If you have a seat reservation then that seat is yours. Most trains put a label in the headrest showing between which stations it's occupied. Some newer trains have LED displays on the edge of the luggage rack showing the same thing. Seat numbers are shown on or above the seats. Carriage letters are usually shown next to the doors.

    If the seat is occupied, politely ask them to move, and show them your reservation if necessary. If they're being awkward, ask the conductor to fine that person instead.

    And in fututr, if you're on a train struggling to find a seat, look at the reserved seats. It might not be reserved for the portion of trip that you're doing. Most people don't even look at the label and assume they can't sit there. But as long as you don't sit there during the "reserved" stations then you're fine.
