East guitar tabs?

I've just started playing and i wanted to know what would be considered good practice songs/tabs. I just want a few songs that i can play and use to get a feel for the fingerings and such.

Also, if there are any good guitar lesson websites out there, let me know?

  1. I just started playing myself....definitly use ultimate-guitar.com.....they have lessons, tabs, and interviews from artists....in my opinion there are a few songs which allow you to get a good grasp on things....

    I play riffs from

Michael Jackson's beat it.....(Fall Out boy version)

    CCR - Suzie Q

Cream - Sunshine of your Love

The first two riffs/songs I started on were Star spangled banner and Dueling Banjos.....

break it into sections....learn parts at a time....

with beat it - start withe the part which has an open (top E) string and then the 3rd fret on the top E string...then an open A and a 3rd fret D....learn that part.  then slowly put more in.

If I were you...aside from learning the songs, learn the minor and major pentatonic scales for different keys....and print as much research material out as you can about music theory....it all helps....Ive been playing for 4 months now and I can make my own solos pretty good...

  2. Since you're a beginner, stick with the basics.  There's plenty to learn before you start playing lead.  These sites will help you.
