Just to clarify the issue of consent. Legally, you do not have to be 16 to have contraception and you do not need parental consent. The prescriber just has to ascertain that she has the maturity/competence to understand the risks and benefits. This is known as Gillick competence based on the Gillick case of 1985 which incidentally was about contraception for the under 16's.
