  1. They are pretty poor, but the capitals are beautiful and i think those countries are mysteriously cool.

  2. Yes, they are beautiful. Here are some links to check out Macedonia

    ENJOY!

p.s. In Macedonia even the water from the aquaduct is safe and drinkable. But you can also buy tap water if you want.

  3. I must say that I find your question to be very stereotypical.

One can't generalize anything, and the answer to this question would be a long one.

Bottom line - some parts of Eastern Europe are poor others are not. Usually, the rural parts are less rich.

Regarding Russia, I must disagree with Gabriele G. Baltic folks don't usually have kinds words for Russia, but they are wrong. Russia is a very beautiful country. Cities like Moscow and St Petersburg are just breathtaking.

Roads aren't generally in best condition, but again, that depends on the country (or even region).

Tap water too. Usually it is safe to drink, but whenever I travel I always buy mineral water because tap water could be clean but your body is accustomed to the water from your city and can have a bad reaction on the water from another city.

Other than this, you have to ask more precise questions, about one country at a time.

  4. i'm from romania too and i think it's ok, it's not a garden or anything, but it's decent and civilized.

The cities are clean and nice, and resemble the ones in Hungary mostly, if you've ever been there, actually, especially in the west, in Transylvania, it's very similar to Hungary.

My favorite part is the countryside, it's very beautiful and picturesque, it's not polluted or anything and the people look the same way they did 100 years ago and do the same things they did 100 years ago. It's lovely, and it's unlike anything you'll find in countries such as Hungary, austria, germany....

It's by far not as dirty as people think it is, especially now in the summer, but I guess you have to see it first, and then make your own opinion.

I've never been to russia or kazahstan or croatia, but I have been to bulgaria and the ukraine.

They're both ok, but they're very different. I've been there during the summer. Bulgaria is nice and clean, but it was a bit too dry and hot for my tastes (last summer), but I liked it very much, it was nicer then I expected. To Ukraine I've only been in places near the border, it's not as nice as Bulgaria, and not by far as nice as Romania, it's not that developed economically speaking, people are poor, but it's very beautiful and again, very picturesque.

I hope I've been of some help

  5. Oh jeez. Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are not even in Europe :)

Thing is, those countries - and even their individual regions - are different. You'll find many pretty places there. If you go to tourist-attacting locations, like the Black Sea Coast in Bulgaria and Ukraine or Croatian resorts, you'll find there everything pretty much the same as in any resort in the world. Tourist resorts will also be definately safe, or reasonable safe, so to say, you'll be ok unless you do something really stupid yourself. Road condition may be poorer in some places, but most larger towns will be accessible by car, if that's what you're asking.

Now, define "poor". Those countries are less wealthy than Western Europe or the States,  but you'll only see real poverty in remote rural areas, which you probably won't visit, so you won't really see it. You can get pretty much the same things in shops as in Western Europe (don't know what you have in the shops in States), of course, with some local flavour in food etc.

The only thing is, I'd avoid Russia if I were you. I've heard some weird stories from there, and with politicians as crazy and as criminal as they have there, well, you just never know. Stick to EU member or associated member countries like Croatia (or the Baltics - come see me :) ), and you'll be fine.

  6. Hey,I live in Romania and Iis very good here, stop layng peoples. My dad has some car shop parts and we have 15.000 euro monthly so isn't bad in Romania, layer!
