Eastward Ho confident about the Caffreys Handicap
The four-year-old, Eastward Ho, gets the nod for the Class 5 Caffreys Handicap on 8th August at Newcastle over seven furlongs. Fourteen three-year-old and above runners have turned for the race that carries £2,264 prize money for the winner. The line-up is highly moderate with none reaching the wire before the rest of the participants in the field lately.
The four-year-old has been active five times during the new season. He could only credit two of those against his name as successes.
Resplendent Glory’s four-year-old chestnut gelding kick started the new season with a fifth position in the “Highly Commended” Pontefract Loyalty Card Handicap (Division I) on 10th April, 2012 at Pontefract over a mile.
The race was won by, Toymaker by the margin of 3 ¼ lengths.
The Jason Ward trained improved drastically by the time the next stop approached. He qualified as the runner-up in the Marshal – Tyregiant.com Handicap on 13th June, 2012 at the Beverley race course over 7 ½ furlongs.
The four-year-old missed the chance by a short head’s margin as Fenella Fudge became the first one among the contestants to race through the wire.
Gadobout Dancer filled in the third position behind the winner.
The next two races ended with the chestnut gelding out of, Mofeyda, visiting the winners’ enclosure.
Eastward Ho won the Racing Again On Monday 9th July Handicap on 21st June, 2012 at the Ripon race course over a mile. The favourite entry led the track initially, got ridden along for the next two furlongs, and ended up getting ridden over a furlong out. Took the rails and managed slipping through the wire by a slight neck’s margin.
Petrocelli took the runner-up’s honour and was soon followed by, Ela Gonda Mou.
The Miss Vivian Pratt owned then struck a back-to-back by bagging the Multifab Metals Engineering & Fabrication Handicap on 30th June, 2012 at Doncaster over a mile.
The prospects of claiming a hat-trick vanished when the favourite entry ended third in the Ripon-Races.Co.UK Handicap on 21st July, 2012 at the Ripon race course over a mile.
The 11 to 2 entry will get paired up with, Tony Hamilton, and the two will take up the challenge from the third gate.
