Hi- its my parents wedding anniversary on the 31st August and my sister and I are putting on a little party for them. I'm 13 and my sis is 9yrs old- are there any simple, tasty but easy-to-make desserts? Maybe a cake, pie, ice cream flavour, etc?

Any help much appreciated.

  1. If you have a microwave try this:

take the favourite fruit of your parents eg. banana / peach

cut it in half length ways, lay on a flat dish.

Put some brown sugar in a small bowl (about one dessert spoon full per person) and if you can add a teaspoon full of whisky / brandy / Sherry / port / to the sugar

Heat on full power for 1 minute maximum.

Allow the now melted sugar / alcohol mix to cool for about 30 seconds.

Pour the sugar mix over the banana / peach and heat in microwave for 30 seconds.

Pour some fresh cream on top and serve straight away.

Very tasty, very easy, quite exotic

  5. That is so sweet of you to do this for your parents! My suggestion is Southern Banana Pudding

Mix up Jello Instant Banana pudding per the directions on the box

Thaw 2 tubs of Cool-Whip topping

    Slice up 3 large bananas

Open one box of Nilla Wafers

When your pudding is set, gently stir in 1 tub of cool-whip

Layer it in a clear plastic bowl or casserole dish:

    Layer 1 Nilla wafers

    Layer 2 pudding

    Layer 3 banana slices

repeat until you have used all of your ingredients

smooth the other cool-whip on the top, crush remaining nilla wafers and sprinkle on top of the cool-whip topping.

Its really yummy and looks beautiful. Good luck! Email me if you have questions : )

  6. Strawberry-Filled Take-Along Cake with Brown Sugar Frosting

A thin layer of fruity jam hides between the frosting and the browned butter-enhanced cake.

    Cake

1/2 cup butter (do not use margarine)

1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® butter recipe yellow cake mix

    1 1/4 cups water

    3 eggs

1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves

    Brown Sugar Frosting

    1/2 cup butter

    1 cup packed brown sugar

    1/4 cup milk

    2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

    1. In heavy 1-quart saucepan, heat 1/2 cup butter over medium heat, moving and turning pan occasionally, just until butter is light brown. (Watch carefully; butter can brown and then burn quickly.) Cool 15 minutes.

    2. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with shortening or cooking spray.

    3. In large bowl, beat browned butter, cake mix, water and eggs with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.

    4. Bake 34 to 39 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.

    5. Spread jam evenly over top of cake. Freeze at least 15 minutes or until jam is set.

    6. Meanwhile, in 2-quart saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly; reduce heat to low. Boil and stir 2 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cool to lukewarm, about 20 minutes.

    7. Gradually stir powdered sugar into brown sugar mixture. If frosting becomes too stiff, stir in additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, or heat over low heat, stirring constantly. Spread frosting over jam. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

High Altitude (3500-6500 ft):  Heat oven to 375°F. Stir 1 tablespoon Gold Medal® all-purpose flour into dry cake mix. Decrease 1/2 cup butter in cake to 1/4 cup. Increase water to 1 1/2 cups. Beat browned butter, cake mix, water and eggs on low speed 4 minutes. Bake 40 to 45 minutes.

  7. if you have blender, try this:

blend a mango(without peeling) but press # 1 only in the blander . Put many ice so that the mangoes will not turn into a shake. Just in number 1 so that there are tidbits of mango. Add some coconut which are like those in a salad. If you dont have coconut, just add some kind of fruits,.. either you cut it into squares, circles, or anything you want. Be creative! Add evaporated milk- 2 spoonfuls; you can use the one in a can. I suggest you use Carnation Evap.

--- I hope I helped. Even though you don't select my answer as the best.. If you will not use this for the anniversary of your parent, I suggest you try it one day. hehehe.. thanks!

  8. Nigella Lawson's chocolate pots. Very easy and delicious.

Crush choc in blender, heat cream & milk and add to choc then process for 30secs, crack in egg- process for another 45 secs. Pour into glasses and set overnight.

  10. You are good to your parents and no matter what you make, they will love it!

You could do an "Ice Cream Bar"... put out tubs of different flavours of ice cream, different sauces, sweets, chocolate sprinkles, etc... and let everyone make their own ice cream sundae

Or, have a grown up Jelly

Line a loaf tin with Cling Film

Get lots of mixed berries - raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc... and put them into the tin.

Get a strawberry jelly and make up according to the packet, except use haldf the quantity of cold water.

Pour this over the fruit and allow it to set in the fridge

Or a creamy dessert - Ramanoff

Drain a tin of strawberries and set aside

Have equal quantities of cream and strawberry yoghurt.

Whip the cream till you get soft peaks, then fold through the yoghurt, strawberries, and some mini marshmallows

Or a Raspberry Fridge cake - this was the first dessert I ever made

Slice a shop bought raspberry swiss roll into 2cm sliced.

Drain a tin of Raspberries and mash the fruit. Keep the juice too

Whip a carton of cream until you have peaks

lay our 3 slices of the roll side-by-side and Drizzle over a little of the juice. Top with a layer of the mashed fruit

Add another layer of the roll, drizzle with juice and more raspberries. Finally another layer of roll and drizzle with a little juice.

Set a side for a couple of hours, then cover with the whipped cream before you serve it.

    Enjoy!
