Easy 10 Points. Help

Question

i just bought a new aqueon 10 gallon tank and it came with a filter

the current is way too powerful for my betta and he hates it

it doesn't have a setting to shift the speed either.

is there any other filters you can reccomend please? with a smaller current?

With just the betta in the tank you could probably get away with a sponge filter (just google it and you will find tons of info).  They don't create a current, but be careful, if you add any more fish the sponge filter may not be able to cope with their waste.

you could get some sort of paper stuck in some of the filter holes ...so it will lessen the strengths....this saves you from buying a new filter

you can use UNDER GRAVEL FILTER instead of a power head filter system. with this kind of filtration the water is more clearer than the overhead filter. the only problem with the under gravel filter is you are oblige to have a full water change if it gets polluted.

for a betta I recomend an under gravel filter that way you can use only one side of it allowing the other side of the tank to be very still doing this makes it idea for breeding bettas and keeping great water conditions

Honestly with a just a betta you really don't need a filter. I have two in wine glass shaped vase i just change the part of the water about once a week.

yea the tetra wisper from wal mart it cost 10$ also try getting a air filter they work great as well with a low current and what he said about sticking paper maybe insted take some sort of cloth and it will slow it also u could maybe turn it off in on turn it on for like 2 hours a day and turn it off plus that way helps save the evorimint try googleing ur quetion to and asking around at ur local pet shop(s) good luck
