I just need a little help with the Ti-84 Plus Silver Edition calculator....

So how do I graph functions on given domains with the calculator.

Example domain below....

f(x) = x^2-4x; -2 ≤ x ≤ 6

If anyone knows please list out all the steps. Thanks.

  1. It's been a long time since I've done this, but I know one way is to use conditional values.

    Under the TEST category (2nd + MATH) there are symbols for equals, not equals, less than, etc. as well as logic statements, like "and" and "or".

    These conditionals evaluate as 1 when they are true and 0 when they are false, so you can use them to select ranges on a graph.

    For your sample equation, you'd enter the following:

    y1 = (x^2-4x)(-2 ≤ x and x ≤ 6)

    Make sure you have the parentheses correct.  What this will do is set the equation to 0 unless the conditions are met.  Now, your graph will probably have ugly lines connecting the endpoints to the x axis, because the graph doesn't handle discontinuities like that very well.  You can ignore these or get rid of them by doing MODE > Dot, although that will make the regular line all dotty as well.

  2. well you click y= and then you type in the formulaand then you click graph

  3. oo oo i know!!!
