  1. When you have a corner on the market, or when you have cornered the market, it means you control the market.  


  2. Means you have no competition or that your competition is not a factor in your sales.

    Also used as a remark not having to do w/the economy. "She cornered the market on swimming." - meaning she's the best, no real competition.  

  3. I think the term is "corner the market", it means that a certain product fills a certain specialized void in the marketplace, has virtually no competitors in its field, and is thus very successful.

  4. Literally, the corner of a street is on the market, or for sale, so you're selling a corner lot of land.

    Figuratively, it means that you have the corner spot, or the best place because people can see you from both sides, in whatever market you are in.  It means you are doing better than the rest of the people/companies/etc. in that field.
