  1. electric trains don't emit smoke

  2. The smoke will blow to the South West. Well that is if the electric train had any smoke.

  3. Actually, if this is set in the 1980's or earlier and during the winter months, its very likely an electric locomotive is indeed emitting smoke...

Before the days of Head End (or "hotel") power (electric drawn, or generated in the locomotive for the purpose of powering lights and things in passenger cars), electric locomotives were equipped with oil-fired steam generators to provide heat to the passenger cars in the winter.

Chances are, the 10kph wind won't have much of an effect on the light smoke emitted by the locomotive and the only traceable direction the smoke can be seen going would be south, right along the train.

  4. an electric train doesn't have smoke

  5. My father-in-law was a train engineer when they burned coal.  Now that they have changed to electric trains there is no smoke.  Have you ever seen those old westerns where the ladies had to hold onto their hats when the smoke came bellering out?

  6. Actually, all modern trains have electric motors driving the wheels.

Diesel engines, as we know them, only use diesel fuel to power the electric generators that power the wheels.

So, yes, electric trains technically DO have smoke.

  7. cute trick question for something that isn't going to happen (no smoke can come from an electric train unless something is on fire)

  8. news for you the train is electric but it was a good laugh well done the only way you get smoke is if there is a fire or something

  9. There is no smoke on an electric train.

  10. If their is smoke from a electric train, I feel sorry for the passengers.

  11. No electric trains do not have smoke what you are talking about is a diesel electric

Unless the motor is burning out, then the train will shortly not be going kph

  12. If it's a pure electric train, then no smoke, but if it's diesel-electric, then the smoke/exhaust travels to the SSW

  13. i think it s north!but electric trains do not emit smoke!right?

  14. Mr. DTTRR89ACE is quite correct and deserves the votes for the best answer.  As far as the old steam generators go, they were a pain in the butt, twitchy and whenever one went down I could never get it restarted.

Head end power is the best thing to come along since sliced bread.

  15. From the blunt or the bong?

  16. SSW?

  17. No smoke from an electric train

  18. AH yeah....that would be daaaa there shouldn't be any smoke if the train is electric.

  19. There is no smoke it's electric.

  20. West...but it ain't smoke from the train.  It must be coming from something else.  Is there a fire or something?
