Question:

Easy Oil question?

I know that oil futures are trading at roughly 129 dollars a barrel today. If i wanted to look up that on say yahoo finance or bloomberg and import data into excel on the oil futures price, now and historical prices, what would i type in for a ticker symbol to be able to view stats on oil futures prices?

This for a regression i will run on excel to compare oil prices with many other possibly dependent variables.

  1. Oil is not like a stock.  There is not one price for it.  There are actually several kinds of oil and each has its own price (based on the ease of refining).  Go to www.nymex.com for prices on various types of oil (Oklahoma sweet crude, Brent light crude, etc.).

  2. Go to google and enter your question or the Wall Street Journal for this information.
