A mountain, 100 feet below sea level, is near a valley 700 feet below sea level. How many feet higher is the mountain than the valley?

  5. A mountain below sea level is actually called a valley, so they are both valleys, and if you try to fill them you have to fill one to 100 feet and the other to 700 feet, so in total you have to fill 800 feet.  Therefore in total it takes 800 feet to make the mountain.
