  1. it needs a basking spot

  2. The heater will not help.

You need to provide a UV light, such as reptisun.

You also need to provide calcium. Minnows are high in calcium due to bone content.

  3. yes,all reptiles need heat because they are cold blooded, that means they need heat from other things to warm them up,they can't control their own tempeture

  4. caresheet for a red ear slider below.

  5. No problem. All baby turtles have soft shells. Otherwise they would remain all scrunched up in egg shape. The heater will help speed its metabolism so it will grow faster. That will help but the important thing is to make sure it has calcium for bone growth and vitamin D to help absorb it. Earthworms and fishes (not goldfish) are good dietary sources of calcium. Some people put a cuttlebone in the tank for the turtle to nibble on but a piece of limestone or a chunk of plaster work as well. The turtle can produce its own vitamin D if you give it a UVB bulb or you can provide it in the diet with something like liver. If you dust the liver with bonemeal, you provide all it needs for bone growth at once.

  6. Soft shell is caused by lack of calcium is UVB/UVA light.

That should be more than enough to help you out.

    Good luck with your turtle.

  7. it needs heat and uv rays if it does not receive uv rays its shell becomes soft get a lamp and a 60 to 100 watt light bulb that will keep it warm and it will help heal the soft shell
