  1. There are so many fun things to do with toddlers!  Just make sure that if you have a young toddler that everything is non-toxic in case they put it in their mouth.  One of my favorite toddler activities is pudding painting.  Mix up a batch of pudding and let them go to town.  They'll l**k a lot of it off their fingers, the table, the paper, etc. but you'll have a smile on their face the whole time!  You can also make homemade playdough (you can find the recipe on the net for peanut butter playdough or salt playdough, neither is harmful if ingested) and let them use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.  Give them things they can use to make texture on the playdough (keys, combs, clean marker caps) as toddlers don't have the fine motor skills yet to really sculpt things.  Or you can roll up playdough "snakes" for them, give them a pair of safety scissors, and let them get a head start on their cutting skills.  Also you could let them drizzle glue (this requires supervision, lol) and then shake paper confetti on top.  Another fun thing is to tape a black crayon to the back of a toy car and let them drive it across the paper making tire tracks.  Making coffee filter flowers by adding washable paint to water and using an eye dropper to drip them on the filter (great for understanding color mixing).  And lets not forget about stickers!  Toddlers love stickers.  Give them a roll, line the table with paper, and let them go to town.  I could go on and on, but the important thing to remember is to keep the projects simple so you don't frustrate them.  Things that we might find dull, toddlers will find joy in because they're still exploring their world.  If all else fails I'm sure you can find some great ideas if you Google "toddler activities".  Good luck and have fun!

  2. Here are some fun projects I have done with the kids....

Put down contact <clear> paper...sticky side up on a table...you will have to tape it down to the table...then cut out tissue paper...let the kids scatter the tissue paper over the sticky paper then place another sheet of contact paper over it...cut into shapes and hang in the window.

Paint with rollers or the sponges that have the handle that you put dish soap in....just put in watered down paint and have the kids paint on paper.

Get different colored masking tape <orientaltradingcompany.com> and cut off about 2 inch pieces...then give pieces to the kids...let them cover empty milk boxes or other objects...or even just stick on paper.

Paint trucks or cars....get some toys that can be washed and let the kids paint them....they love doing this and it is a lot of fun. Take pictures and display the fun everyone is having.

Make some oobleck....It is equal parts water with equal parts corn starch....it is a weird feeling substance...get a bunch of plastic bins or a sensory table.....then just let the kids play in it....it turns to liquid when you pick it up but when it is in the container it is solid....the kids love it and if it gets on clothes or the floor...wait till it drys and just sweep or brush it away....

I have a ton of ideas....

  3. Macronii Sculpures are fun. Also, try games and other things. :)

  4. Non toxic finger painting is always fun. Children love colors so they will go nuts with it. You could have them make art on cloth or paper.

It would be something absolutely beautiful to look back on later in life.

    Have fun!

  5. One favorite activity I have with my 3 year old is arts and crafts. They really enjoy it when you tell them that they are making this as a gift to someone else. Last week I purchased hand towels in white and painted my sons had with non- toxic paint and had him put his hands on the towel. It looked so cute and we gave to his grandma and she was so happy and son was he. You could also do glue less collages with clear contact paper and add all kinds of things and just try to completely cover the paper the look so cool I have one my son made on his bedroom wall and it looks awesome.

  6. Maybe go to a library or the internet and search something like Good Easy projects for toddlers.   Hope I helped!!

  7. Go to http://www.dltk-kids.com

They have lots of crafts for many different ages.  Animal crafts especially go over well with toddlers.  Look under the animal crafts section and under the paper plates crafts section (crafts using paper plates), because those are definitely age-appropriate, fun, and creative for toddlers to do.

  8. It's in your name  (Amber).  Colours - so much children can do with the theme colours.

  9. something that has to deal with clay

my sister a toddler.....loves to work with clay and so do other kids too

  10. for this age keep it open-ended.  Fingerpainting, feetpainting with 2 or 3 colors MAX.  Change the texture of the paints by adding flour, condensed milk, coffee grounds, sand, etc. to paint.

  11. Go to your local library and there are books and books about projects to do with toddlers.

  12. do not expect too much or too little from this age group they will suprise you.  limiting them to 3 or less colors could be ok.  but don't you want them to learn more than basics.  kids this age love projects involving their portraits and familiar others portraits.  a family collage is great and while doing this ask the child who it is in the picture.  you will be suprised at what they say.  for instance there is this child in my class that said one of the people in the picture was melba.  the persons actual name was sue.  and after talking to the parent we put 2 and 2 together and realized the child cried for melba and mom did not undertstand who or what melba was til now.

also toddlers love to get dirty.  painting with chocolate pudding is fun.

or put out constructions paper, child scissors, glue, art feathers, glitter, tissue paper, buttons, etc.  these children need to have a free choice art project.  these are extrememly neat and believe it or not they can remember which one is theirs.
