Hey! Are we allowed to write miles per minute on something? Please answer only if you know because this is for an important grade! I just want to know if we can write m/m like we write m/h? :) thanks in advance!

  1. You can write "mile per minute" or "mile/minute"--why not?

When using abbreviations you need to define them.  If "m" can mean either mile or minute there is ambiguity.

Mile per 36 second or m/(36s) can be useful for a quick approximation of groundspeed in knots:  4.8 mile => 480 knot.

  2. Well, in mission planning miles/minute is used extensively.  It's an easy way to calculate backwards from times-on-target, and Air Refueling Contact Times to name two. If you clearly labeled your work as Miles/minute and not "m/m" I'm sure you'll be fine.

  3. yes you can

  4. I don't think so..

  5. I don't think there is a problem with doing this, but speeds are almost never noted in miles per minute. If this is for a grade, I would check with the teacher or professor to find out if it is acceptable.

  6. Only if your going to break it down into decimal points. You would have to go 120 miles per hour to write two miles a minute. So 75 miles per hour would be 1.15 or something like that.
