1. How can 2 regions with the same average yearly temperature have different climate ratios?

2. How can regions with the same total yearly precipitaion have different climate ratios?

3. What relationship exists between latitude and temperature patterns?

Please help me! I am confused! Thanks! :-)

  1. 1. well its not just temp that effects climate but also the soil, plants, animals ect. all come into factor.

    2.Same as #1.

3.At 0 degrees lat. is the equator and the further you go south or north the low the temp gets (generally).

    i hope this helped

  2. Suppose one area had a temperature of 100 during the 6 months of summer and 0 during the 6 months of winter.  The average temperature would be the same as another area whose temperature was 50 year round.

Mountains, among other things, have a big effect on precipitation.   Suppose one side of a mountain gets 1 inch of rain each week for a year and the other side gets 52 inches of rain but only once a year.  The average precipitation would be the same.

Generally temperatures at the equator are warmer than at the North pole.  As you might guess, the temperature falls for each latitude from the equator.

  3. (1) One place(say,a coastal place) may have an annual fluctuation of 10 degree celcius and another place(an interior place, far away from coast) may have an annual temperature fluctuation of 20 degree celcius and both still may have the same annual average temperature. But the climate of the coastal station will be moderate when compared to an interior place.

(2)There are some countries over which monsoon winds blow regularly at a particular period of the year. They get most of the rainfall during that monsoon period only.Take the example of India.South-west monsoon blows over it during June to September and more than 80 percent of the annual rainfall occurs during this period only.On the other hand, in another country which lies in the tropics rainfall may be staggered throughout the year and yet get the same amount of total rainfall. But monsoon climate is different from tropical climate.

(3)As the inclination of the solar beam becomes more if you go towards poles, the solar radiation received on a given area diminishes towards the poles. So the avearage annual temperature decreases from lower to higher latitudes. It has been been approximately calculated that the average annual temperature at the equator is 25 degree celcius and that of the poles -20(minus 20) degree celcius.
