    Basic principles

Coaching for volleyball can be classified under two main categories: match coaching and developmental coaching. The objective of match coaching is to win a match by managing a team's strategy. Developmental coaching emphasizes player development through the re-enforcement of basic skills during exercises known as "drills". Drills promote repetition and refinement of volleyball movements, particularly in footwork patterns, body positioning relative to others, and ball contact. A coach will construct drills that simulate match situations thereby encouraging speed of movement, anticipation, timing, and team-work. At the various stages of a player's career, a coach will tailor drills to meet the strategic requirements of the team.:-)

  2. just teach them to bump, and get more than one hit per serve, you dont want to bump its straight over everytime you get the ball! you want them to bump it up, move out of the way, and another kid comes and bumps it over. also teach them to call their ball. if the ball is coming towards them and they want to hit it, tell them to scream "MINEEE" or "GOT IT!!" and tell them to be loud so EVERYONE knows it is their ball. this can be fun or a mess, just keep everyone organized and practice with them by throwing it into the air while having six kids on one side and throw it between two ppl to make them call it. if they dont call it or they both do and it drops, have those players run a lap, and bring two new kids into their spot, but keep throwing between the different kids on the court. it will get them used to being suprised and having to stay prepared for the ball to go anywhere at any point. hope this helps!!!!
