  1. tomatoes are always a good one to try and so rewarding, thatss how i started. be carefull of pests though!

  2. Anything from the curcurbit family is easy to grow . Squash Pumpkin Courgette Cucumber Melons ,(watermelon) are some of the easiest things to grow as long as soil is rich in organic matter. the seeds go straight into the soil, and they always germinate, even if you don't dig up the soil much. you could even seed them directly in your compost heap like i did and let the vines run out and away from it. grate plant family.

  3. Spinach is really easy and you can sow the seeds directly into the ground, so are carrots and potatoes good luck and enjoy the fruits of your labour

  4. I didn't know what mangetout is so I had to look it up. If you are growing peas, other veggies that should also do well would be radish, lettuce and greens like kale, mustards, collards etc. There are tomatoe varieties for almost any growing climate. If there is a nursery in your area go browsing there and ask questions you will discover what is good for your area and also planting times.

Good luck, there is nothing better than homegrown veggies.

  5. lettus is the most easier to grown if you are a beginner.

All you need to prepare soil and manuer 1 month before planting, then that is, simplely sprinkle water on them.  2-3 weeks, then you got it.  Better not plant too much in one time cuz their growth speed is quite fast.  Plant few one time than another few baby lettus plants in next and so on. Or it will be bolt into flowers and seeds if you don't crop them as soon as possible... (*_*)  Potato is also kind fun to plant and the flowers are very pretty as well.

  6. I found basil and chives easy to grow in Texas.  It depends on where you live.

  7. tomatoes, potatoes (probably the easiest),onions, radishes, runner beans, there are lots that are quite easy, just have a go!

if you try carrots grow a few marigolds in between to keep off the carrot fly etc. as marigolds attract these and keep them off your veg.

  8. It also depends where you are in the world. Here in the UK the weather is just a little too unpredicatable for some of the nicer (but still easy to grow) stuff. I grow chilli and sweetpeppers in pots on indoor windowsills, together with parsley, chives and even garlic. When the weather does get better, you can move them outside and start some more going inside - your own green production line. When it starts to get cold again (September/October here in the UK) then simply move the chilli/peppers indoors and they will keep giving you fresh "fruits" all through the winter.
