Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen grabbed an easy victory over the Englishman, Jimmy Robertson by 5-1 score line in the first round of 2012 World Open at the Haikou Stadium arena.
The Pistol was impressive at the baize and controlled the match from the beginning. The first two frames were a bit tussling but the Antrim potter managed to hit the lead by 3-1 at the end of first session. Robertson was not able to produce any major breaks
during the first session despite the fact that he troubled the 2011 UK Championship finalist early in the match.
Both potters played neck and neck in the second session but unfortunately Robertson tumbled down again and the Northern Irishman earned his first win in the 2012 World Open by 5-3.
Allen spoke to the World Snooker after his win, “I didn't play very well. On any other day Jimmy probably could have won 5-1. I think I won three frames on the black and I think 3-3 or 4-2 to Jimmy after 6 frames probably would have been a fair reflection.
I need to improve although I won the match so I can look forward to the next round.”
