Question:

Easy way to work out exactly what you are paying for listing an item on ebay?

I am selling some stuff on behalf of family on ebay and I want to find out exactly what they will have to pay me in fee's. It can be a little bit confusing as it changes from category to category. It is easy enough to work out the listing fee's but it is the final value and paypal fee's that can be a bit more difficult. For example I was never sure if you pay the final value fee on the postage or just the sale price. Is there a tool for working this out or do you just have to look it up and work it out?

  1. You can find eBay fee calculators if you search the net for them, but I have no idea how accurate they would be  It's easier to work it out for yourself.

eBay's Final Value Fee (FVF) is charged on the final price of the item (ie, what it sells for) and doesn't include your postage and packing cost.  For most items, it starts at 7.5% then decreases the more your item makes - for technology items, it starts at 5.25% decreasing

PayPal fees are 20p, plus 3.4% of the total payment you receive (ie, the total the buyer sends you - the cost of goods and the p&p cost as well).

Once you've listed the items, you'll find an itemised breakdown of the eBay costs in your seller account, if that makes it any easier for you.

  2. You put the product at the price you want it to be then you put how much you want for p&p
