Question:

Easy ways to avoid eating meat?

I want to stop eating meat, for at least a month, to see how it goes. If I do eat meat, it's chicken, but I want to stop. I keep hearing it is healthier to eat less meat, if any at all. Does anyone have any tips or meal ideas?

  1. SOY MEAT

    it looks like meat

    it tastes like meat

    it isn't meat and its healthier than meat

    replace ground beef in recipes with this stuff

    find it in the produce isle

    best brand is Yves but Smart Ground is pretty good


  2. Just don't eat it.  Leave it out of your recipes.  Or you could replace it with the soy based products.  Personally, I just leave it out of my meals.  Beans have a lot of protein as well than can replace what you are not getting.

  3. If your family is having steak for dinner pick up a pack of extra firm tofu, and sautee it in steak sauce. Just as good.

  4. you can stop eating meat, but you have to make sure you get protein from other sources then. you could look into soy based products such as tofu.

Every time you think about eating meat or you get a craving, sit down at your computer and go to www.meat.org.  That website changed my life.  I can't support the meat industry anymore.  Some people can view that website and it doesn't bother them or stop them from eating meat, but for me I didn't even give it a second thought.

  6. -eat lots of beans and rice

    -boca burgers or morningstar burgers/chicken nuggets

    -its really easy to substitute tofu for any meat in an asian dish

    -soy crumbles (morningstar brand for example) are just like cooked ground beef, and you can add it to any dish that calls for hamburger, like tacos, spaghetti, chili mac, etc...and no one would even notice!

  7. Use the Morningstar Farms products in place of meat.  They make fake hamburger, chicken, sausage, bacon... all kinds that taste really good and you won't feel like you're missing out.  (Boca has good products too, but I don't like their fake hamburger.)

    They're made from textured wheat proteins, which I think taste chewy-er and more satisfying than tofu.

  9. It is not that hard, try for a week, and if you can  do it, try a month.. and keep going. My favorite thing to eat (that has tofu in it) is tofu cut really thin, and covered in shake'n bake and fryed, or cooked however you want.
