Hey there, so I want to cut my watermelon into chunks, but it's this big honking thing, and I don't know how to cut it, since I've never cut one before, advice?

  1. First cut it in half, then quarter it and cut it into smaller pieces from there.

  2. Yep, pretty much what PammyO said-- halve it, quarter it then take a soup spoon to it while scooping out large hunks of the flesh.  You can store the pieces in an air-tight container and they will keep for about 2 days.

  3. 1 Wash the rind of a watermelon with regular soap or with a vegetable wash. Everything which the knife touches on the outside of the melon will end up in contact with the watermelon flesh as it slices through.

2 Use a sharp knife to carefully slice off the top and the bottom. A serrated knife works best for items that have a softer interior and tougher exterior like melons, tomatoes, and breads.

3 Stand the melon on end, and carefully slice down through the center.

4 Note that if you cut along the dark stripes on the outside of the watermelon, then the watermelon seeds will end up on the outside of the pieces of watermelon, making them easier to remove.

5 Cut each half into sections.

6 Hold the section in one hand while you slowly remove the melon from its rind.

7 Slice down from the top to the rind in even slices. Continue in this way until each section has the fruit removed.

8 Place each section into a bowl.

    hope this helps!

  4. If it's laying on a cutting board, cut it in half, holding the knife as if it's coming out of yoru belly button.  Then, flip the two halves onto the cut sides, and cut downward into wedges.  Run your knife (or a thinner, mroe flexible one) along the rind to cut red flesh free from rind.  Then chunk up.

  5. I like to cut a small piece from the watermelon each time I cut.  Then from that small piece, cut vertically and horizontally.

  6. first in half, then in quarters, then cut along the edge of the inside, throwing the outside away.  (It's like peeling the outside part off, except you have to cut it!)  Then you cut the inside into smaller pieces!  (It sounds complicated but I've seen an 11 year old do it)
