  1. umm here :

    example 1 : the number 30 devided on 5

    we imagine we have 5 boxes and we have 30 apples and now we must

    give every box the same ammount as the other box , lets try 4 , 4 apples multiplyed by 5 boxes gives us 20 apples only so (4) is not the answere , we try higher number until we get it correct , (6).

    example 2 : 30 ÷ 5 = ?

    now we have to see the mutiply list of number 5 , 5 in which number gives us 30?

    5 in 6

    example 3 : couldnt find another one =/

  2. first you have to learn to multiply.

    back when i was in third grade(and yes the dinosaurs were still rotting on the ground) we had to memorize the multiplication table. daily quizzes until everybody got it.

    fourth grade was for long division, and if you had mult down, LD was a breeze.

  3. Well, it might help if she understands that division is the inverse of multiplication. For example, when we say 4 divided by 2, we are saying 2 tmes what number = 4. The answer is obviously 2. So 4/2 = 2 because 2 times 2 = 4.

    If she has memorized the multiplication tables, then she knows that 5 times 9 = 45. So she also should know that 45 divided 5 = 9 and 45 divided by 9 = 5.

    If you approach it this way, I think it will become clear to her.

    If she asks how do you divide 1 by 5, tell her that 1 is the same as 1.0.

    Then this is like dividing 10 by 5 getting 2. Do not move the decimal point So the answer would be .2.

  4. Hey Tanisha, I'm going to be a father myself soon so this question is especially important to me.  But more importantly to you, I'm a math tutor, so hopefully I can give you some good ideas.

    First, think of dividing as 'how many times one number fits into another'.  So if you have 21/3, say how many 3's are in the number 21?  7, right?  She can even start counting by 3's on her fingers until she gets there- if she gets past 10 factors, she might have to take off her shoes :)

    If she's having trouble with the whole division idea, flip it and think of division in terms of multiplication.  After all 21/3 is the same as 21 * (1/3).  This is a concept you don't really need to teach her, but what I'm trying to say is, if she's good with multiplication, tell her to think how many times she needs to multiply 5 to get 30.  6 times.  So there are 6 five's in 30, which is a way to get 30/5.  This is perfectly valid.

    Second, saying something isn't usually enough.  It will help her to visualize things.  The easy way to do it is something like drawing a pie, and splitting it up into parts.  The pie has 6 parts.. how many groups of 2 are in the pie?  That's 6/2.  Maybe use a factor tree if that helps, and you'll be teaching her something else that she needs to learn eventually anyway (prime numbers and factoring)

    You can be inventive on that one.

    Third, visualizing AND saying something is often not enough.  One of the tricks to learning is to use as many senses as you can, and that helps you remember it better.  So hearing, seeing, and touching are generally the ways to learn something.  The way to learn by touching is to write things down.  Have her do problems, as many as possible (without making it a completely terrible experience).  Start with easy ones, and move on to trickier ones.  Practice, as we all know, makes perfect.  More than that, it makes you comfortable with the situation, which is really important when doing math problems.

    Let her take her time and think things out, but it's no help if she's struggling so much that she can't get it at all and you just say 'sit there until you get it right' (not that you would).  Help when she needs help, but don't help too much so that she doesn't do it herself.  It's a fine line, but if you've taught her other things, I think you probably know how to do this.

    The one last thing I'd say is this.   With math, it's not about memorization.  You can't memorize every single problem that might come up, but instead math is about learning general principles that can be applied to a whole group of problems.  So what I mean is, you'll never teach her what 11304.4 / 21.5 is.  That probably just won't come up (or at least, not for a while!).  But the point is, if she learns the basics and understands fully how to do 10/5 and WHY the answer is 2 and not some other number, then she can solve any problem, no matter how complicated.

    I really hope this helps and good luck!

  5. How old is she?

    If she's younger, she'll have to learn the methods that the school is trying to teach (aka long division,etc.)

    What I tried explaining to my 9-year-old is to do this:

    For 25 divided by 3:

    I told her to start with 1, and find all multiples of 3 until she passes 25.  Then use the previous number:

    3x1=3

    3x2=6

    3x3=9

    3x4=12

    3x5=15

    3x6=18

    3x7=21

    3x8=24

    3x9=27

    So since 27 is too large, use the "8" to make 24.

    Now she has the 8, multiply the 8x3 to get 24 and subtract it from 25, to leave a remainder of 1.

  6. To divide fractions, turn one upside down and multiply. For example, to divide 1/2 by 1/4 multiply 1/2 x 4/1 = 4/2 which equals 2 (you can check this on a calculator by dividing .5 / .25 ).

    When you divide by 1 your answer is what you're dividing: x/1=x or 9/1=9.

    When you divide by zero, your answer is zero!

    To check division, multiply. 30 divided by 6 is 5, and 5 times 6 is 30.

  7. im sorry I actually don't know

    but I know something easy for multiplying 11 with big numbers..

    ex.  11x15

    add a zero at the end

    150

    add it with the regular number

    150+15 = 165

    and that's your answer ! :]

  8. you should teach how to count

    Then multiplication table.

    Then you can teach her division easily.

    for examle:

    let us divide 8 by 2

    2*4=8

    2*?=8

    tell her to  tell you the value of ?

    search the site for multiplication example in javascipt examples

    Study together with her.
